My Work

Birds and Pots (2021)

Making ceramic artworks with handmade clay used in Indian pottery was a challenge. In India, there are potter families known as Prajapatis or Kumhars who are engaged in making terracotta objects. They bake their products at low temperatures without glaze. The idea is to make nice ceramic pieces with available materials. My works are made from red clay and glazed with iron oxide to 900oC in a handmade gas kiln. I used the reduction technique to create better effects on surfaces.
